- I live next to the airport in town very noisy here (the airport is used for refueling during these rescue attempts), they were at least 15 miles up the river in the mountains.

- Good luck with getting service in the mountains. Oh yeah I forgot Gold Beach has cell towers all over the mountains for mushroom hunters to communicate with. I live here where this just happened. trust me, 2 miles up the river and no service.

- They were harvesting mushrooms for income. $1, $2, $5, $10, $20 a pound. Lot's of people harvest mushrooms around here to supplement their income. I would make a couple hundred dollars a day strolling around in the beautiful woods here harvesting mushrooms. Lot's of varieties.

- A new Detailed MAP is way better than GPS here in Gold Beach. People have got really lost and have died using GPS here in Curry County. The logging roads literally change sometimes daily, my almost retired father makes some of the roads in the mountains here.

- another couple used GPS here in the mountains. There were casualties. GPS in the mountains a big NO NO, go to your local forest service where you can also get your mushroom harvest permit and get a up to date MAP. GPS does not inlude the just built logging roads from year to year.
